How are you marking World Diabetes Day?
Tell us how you plan to mark the day by posting your event, or how you will mark the day, on our interactive Map of Canada.
Commemorate November 14 in many ways…here’s how:
- Share your story, encourage other Diabetes Champions to do the same or recognize a local Champion today!
- Blue is the international colour of diabetes – tell us if you have arranged for a local monument to be lit in blue, or plan a blue lighting event at your home, local school, park etc.
- A circle is the international symbol for diabetes– on November 14, gather volunteers, families, friends, neighbours, employees and others, dress in blue and tell us about your human “blue circle”.
- Engage political support by asking your local government representatives to proclaim November 14 as World Diabetes Day.
- Organize a blue hoola-hooping challenge – Blue-La Hoop Challenges are a great way to combine a healthy activity and the blue circle symbol for diabetes!
- Dress in blue for the day or light a blue candle – post a photo or video of you, your friends and family.
- Plan a community walk in support of World Diabetes Day.
- Attend or plan a Diabetes Education Event.
- Write about a Diabetes Champion on your personal blog or website and tell everyone how you’re getting involved, inviting them to visit worlddiabetes.ca to learn more.
However you plan to show your support, please remember to share your World Diabetes Day events here.
