Help celebrate the 90th anniversary of the discovery of insulin on November 14!
The history of diabetes research in Canada is, in every sense, a history of innovation. World Diabetes Day marks the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who, along with Drs. Charles Best, John Macleod and James Bertram Collip co-discovered insulin.
2011 is a milestone year as it’s the 90th anniversary of the discovery of insulin. Canada is proud to have given the gift of insulin to the world, and World Diabetes Day is an opportunity for Canadians to come together and celebrate the incredible made-in-Canada diabetes innovations.
Together, the Canadian Diabetes Association, JDRF, founding sponsor Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. and silver sponsor Eli Lilly Canada are marking the day by honouring and celebrating Diabetes Champions, like Banting, Best, Macleod and Collip.
